Daniel Alfredsson becoming Canadian citizen

OTTAWA – Daniel Alfredsson will become a Canadian citizen next week.

A ceremony for the former captain of the Ottawa Senators is being held Tuesday during the World Cup of Hockey in Toronto.

The 43-year-old is currently a special adviser to the Ottawa Senators hockey operations

Alfie has another honour coming his way. His number 11 jersey will be raised into the rafters at the Canadian Tire Centre December 29, when the Sens take on the Detroit Red Wings.

The Sens and the Wings were the only two teams Alfie played for during his 17 years in the NHL.
