Famous WWII bomber comes to Ottawa

OTTAWA — VERA is in Ottawa!

One of only two remaining Lancaster bombers in the world still flying is in the Nation’s Capital this weekend.

The Avro Lancaster bomber will be participating in a flypast at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum on Sunday to mark the 76th anniversary of the Battle of Brittain.

The Lancaster, named “VERA”, is open for tours Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2p.m. but is limited to the first 125-people and are by donation.

Tours will be given at the JPD Aviation Ltd, the ESSO Avitat (350 Comet Private) at the Ottawa International Airport.

The plane is owned by the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.
