Fans get up close with their Champions

The Champions have lived up to their name!
The two-year-old team won the CAN-AM championship over the weekend.
Fans from across the city turned out to a rally at City Hall Monday afternoon to celebrate the team.
Team President David Gourlay said the win was unexpected, but called it exhilarating and awesome, and said he hopes it continues into next year when Ottawa is set to host the All Star Game.
Mayor Jim Watson said the win helps solidify the future of baseball in the city.
“We’ve seen attendance grow from year one to year two and secondly, with the championship under their belts, I think that’s going to help ticket sales and help the excitement and publicity around the team that they need to get more bums in the seats,” said Watson.
He said he expects the team’s fan base to continue to grow when an LRT station is added near their stadium in the next few years.
