OTTAWA — The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section has laid more charges against Robert Clarke, following an ongoing investigation and new allegations of sexual assault.
One victim has come forward in response to an Ottawa Police news release issued in September about Sexual Assault charges against the Morrisburg man.
Investigators looked into incidents alleged to have happened between 1973 to 1992, while Clarke was a teacher in Ottawa.
Clarke, 72, is further charged with one count of Gross Indecency, and is scheduled to appear in court on October 24.
He’s now facing charges in connection to eight alleged victims, and investigators are concerned there could be more.
“The Ottawa Police will respect a victim’s wishes to pursue or not pursue the matter before the courts,” said Staff Sergeant Angela McDade of the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section. “The reporting of these incidents by victims to police is key for investigators to identify suspects and determine crime trends.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5944 or phone Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 (TIPS) or toll-free at 1-800-222-8477.
