Elgin Street proposal includes wider sidewalks, reduced parking

OTTAWA – The city’s redesign proposal for Elgin Street aims at making the strip more inviting to pedestrians and cyclists.
The city wants to make sidewalks wider for pedestrians while also adding more trees, benches, and patio space.
The plan would also see on-street parking reduced by 50 per cent, and the street narrowed to one lane in each direction. The speed limit would also be reduced to 30 km/h.
The proposal will go before the city’s transportation committee in April.
