OTTAWA — A dozen patients are showing signs of gastroenteritis at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.
The infection causes vomiting and diarrhea.
The hospital has declared an outbreak and isolated infected patients in two units and it has increased cleaning in those areas.
The outbreak affected patients in one rehabilitation unit and one surgical unit.
It comes as the hospital is already experiencing overcrowding because of a flu outbreak in Ottawa.
Officials are asking anyone who comes into or leaves the hospital to wash their hands and not to visit patients if they feel unwell.
