One dead, several others injured after two west end collisions

OTTAWA — One person is dead and four others are in hospital with varying injuries after two separate collisions in the west end.
The first collision happened just before 7p.m. Friday between a compact car and a cargo van at Fallowfield Road and Eagleson Road.
Three people were rushed to hospital. One was pronounced dead, another had serious injuries and a third had moderate injuries.
Firefighters said in a release that one of the vehicles had been on its side and occupants in both vehicles had to be extricated.
Paramedics were called to a second collision just an hour later, where a 24-year-old man was rushed to hospital in critical condition with head injuries.
The collision happened at Teron Road and Campeau Drive.
A 49 year-old man was also taken to hospital with chest and back injuries while a 19 year-old man was treated and release at the scene.
