Ottawa Demonstrators set to take stand against Islamophobia

OTTAWA — Demonstrators are set to take to the streets in downtown Ottawa Saturday afternoon as part of the Pan-Canadian Day of Action Against Islamophobia.

They’re demanding the Canadian government condemn U.S. President Donald Trump’s Executive Order banning people travelling to the country from seven Muslim majority nations.

They’re also calling for the feds to revoke the Safe Third Country Agreement that bars refugees from entering the U.S. and then claiming asylum in Canada.

More than two thousand people said they were interested in going to the demonstration on Facebook.

The protest starts at 1:30 p.m. at the Human Rights Monument at City Hall.
