Man charged in Ottawa’s first murder of 2017 due in court

OTTAWA – A man wanted in connection with Ottawa’s first murder of the year has turned himself in and is due in court Thursday.

Police say Awale Hussein, 23, turned himself over to police Wednesday morning.

They has issued a warrant for him in connection with the death of Brian Boucher, 24, who died after he was stabbed on Joseph Cyr Street, near the St. Laurent Shopping Centre, on the morning of February 2.

Police say Hussein is facing a second-degree murder charge.
