Sarah Palin as U.S. ambassador to Canada?

A familiar name has been making the rounds in political circles in Ottawa and Washington, as the Trump administration looks for its next ambassador to Canada: former Alaska governor and presidential running-mate Sarah Palin.

The White House won’t confirm if Palin is a contender for the job but did not deny it, either, when asked about the possibility during a press briefing on Wednesday.

“We have no additional ambassador nominations or announcements to make on that front,” said Sean Spicer, White House press secretary. “I’m sure, at some point, we will have soon.”

Palin endorsed Trump for the Republican nomination during the primaries, but recently criticized Trump’s much-vaunted deal with Carrier, which the president says has kept jobs from leaving the U.S. for Mexico.
