West Carleton Secondary reopens following gas leak

OTTAWA — A rural high school has reopened after a gas leak, early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were called to West Carleton Secondary School around 7 a.m., when staff noticed an unusual odour in the building.

Ottawa Fire tells 1310 NEWS, an excess of snow may have caused a break in a gas line on the outside of the school.

Students were taken to Earl of March Secondary School in Kanata, where they were supervised.

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board says repairs are complete and it’s business as usual for Wednesday.
