OTTAWA — A final vote on the fates of six schools in the west end of the capital is scheduled for tonight.
The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board has received a recommendation to close five schools — Leslie Park P.S., and Century P.S., Greenbank Middle School, D.A. Moodie Middle School and Grant Alternative. A decision is scheduled to be made at a special board meeting, tonight.
Trustees will also vote on a motion to convert Regina Street Public School to an alternative school.
Tonight’s vote comes after a controversial Committee of the Whole meeting, that lasted two evenings and heard emotional pleas to save the schools. Tonight’s meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at the OCDSB’s offices on Greenbank Road.
Another special board meeting has been scheduled for March 7 on the fate of Rideau High School, which has also been recommended for closure.
