OTTAWA — An investigation is ongoing, after an OC Transpo bus came to a stop between the stop bar and the rail tracks on Fallowfield Road.
A memo from the General Manager of the Transportation Services Department, John Manconi, states that “According to the investigation at 1:30 p.m. yesterday (March 23) an OC Transpo bus with approximately 6 passengers on board approached the Fallowfield Road rail crossing and the traffic light turned amber. The operator braked accordingly. However, the bus came to a stop beyond the painted stop bar, in the area between the rail crossing arm and the rail track. A VIA Rail train crossed shortly thereafter without incident. In accordance with standard operating procedures, OC Transpo has reported this incident to both Transport Canada and VIA Rail Canada, and its investigation into the cause of the incident is continuing.”
An email has been sent to advise Members of Council and the Transit Commission of the preliminary results of OC Transpo’s investigation into the incident at the Fallowfield Road at-grade crossing.
