OTTAWA – The man convicted in a fatal prom night stabbing has been sentenced to life in prison with no eligibility for parole for 12 years.
Devontay Hackett, 21, was found guilty of second-degree murder on Feb. 17 after two days of jury deliberations.
He had pleaded not guilty.
Brandon Volpi was stabbed outside Les Suites Hotel on Besserer Street on June 7, 2014, following post-prom celebrations.
Both Devontay Hackett and Brandon Volpi were 18 at the time.
