Ian Bush triple-murder trial begins

OTTAWA – The Ian Bush triple-murder trial gets underway Monday.

Bush, 60, is accused of killing retired tax court judge Alban Garon, 77, his wife Raymonde Garon, also 77, and their neighbour and friend Marie-Claire Beniskos, 78.

Their bodies were found in their condominium highrise on Riverside Drive, in 2007.

The murders remained unsolved until Bush was charged in a home invasion that targeted a 101-year-old veteran, Ernest Côté.

Bush is charged with attempted murder, robbery and forcible confinement in connection to that attack.

The decorated veteran, who landed in Normandy on D-Day, was left in his home with a bag over his head.

Cote survived the attack but has since passed on; his death was unrelated to this case.
