Crews battle three overnight fires in Vanier

OTTAWA – Fire crews have been busy tackling three separate fires in Vanier overnight.

Crews were first called to a house under renovations at 253 Deschamps just after midnight after reports of smoke and flames, and arrived to find heavy fire and smoke conditions.

A working fire was declared, which has since been updated to a second-alarm.

A fire inspector has been called to the scene. There are no injuries and the cause is under investigation.

Meantime, four people have been displaced by another fire in Vanier.

Crews were called to 209 St-Anne Ave. shortly before 1 a.m. after reports of an exterior staircase on fire, extending to the roof of the building.

One man was rescued from the second floor and placed in the care of paramedics.

Meantime, fire crews takcled fire at 270 Montreal Rd.

Crews were called to the scene at 3:24 a.m. and arrived to find heavy smoke and flames.

The fire is in a vacant building.
