Pair of east end fires set intentionally

OTTAWA — Two east-Ottawa fires are now being investigated as arsons.

This adds to a long list of recent suspicious fires in the area.

The first happened at a commercial garage on Paddler Way in Orleans, just before 7pm Thursday.

Officials say witnesses spotted suspicious activity in the area, which led investigators to believe the blaze was set deliberately.

Damage is pegged at $50,000.

A garbage fire is also under investigation at an apartment on Jasmine Cr., southeast of Vanier.

Damage was minimal in that case.

These two arsons are in addition to six suspicious vehicle fires reported by the Ottawa Police Service, just east of Tenth Line Rd. in Orleans last week.
