Pilot suffers serious injuries in South Glengarry plane crash

OTTAWA – A pilot suffered serious injuries in a plane crash in South Glengarry Township Monday.
Around 6 p.m., emergency crews were called to a wooded area southwest of the Cornwall Regional Airport.
A massive search was launched with the Joint Rescue Coordinator Centre at CFB Trenton, RCMP Marine Units, OPP, Akwesasne Mohawk Police — and a helicopter from the New York State Police.
The 70-year old pilot, the lone occupant of the C-Plane ‘Buckeneer,’ was located around 10 p.m.
He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Some officers and emergency medical services personnel were also taken to hospital for treatment after being exposed to aviation fuel and fumes.
The Transportation Safety Board and Ministry of Environment have been notified and will be involved in the fuel clean up.
