Ian Bush attempted murder trial underway

OTTAWA – The trial for the man charged in the attempted murder of a decorated war veteran is now underway.

Ian Bush, 62, faces an attempted murder charge, as well as robbery and forcible confinement charges, for a home invasion and attack on Ernest Cote in 2014.

The decorated 101-year-old veteran, who landed in Normandy on D-Day, was left in his home with a bag over his head.

According to Postmedia, the Crown told court Wednesday, that Cote struggled to cut a hole in the bag, but didn’t remove it as he knew there would be evidence on it.

The paper says Cote remained calm and collected and called 911.

Cote has since passed on; his death was unrelated to this case.

The trial for Ian Bush could last until December.
