OTTAWA — An application to open another supervised injection site, in Chinatown, has been approved.
Health Canada has approved an exemption at the Somerset West Community Health Centre. In a release issued Monday morning, the health centre says the funding has come from the provincial government, and it’s now awaiting infrastructure funding to make necessary renovation at its building, currently located at 55 Eccles St.
There’s no estimated date for the opening of the site so far.
According to Ottawa Public Health, the Somerset Ward sees the second-highest number of drug overdoses in the city.
