Police “Project Mitigate’ cracks down on local drug trafficking

OTTAWA – Police have arrested seven people as part of a two month operation aimed at targeting street level drug trafficking in the ByWard Market and Lowertown areas.
Those arrested range from 25 to 50 years of age.
‘Project Mitigate’ has identified 21 people involved in selling crack cocaine, amphetamines, and opioids.
Arrests began last Thursday, where officers also executed a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of Murray Street.
They seized crack cocaine from the home and two young children, one 18 months, the other 3 years old, were placed in the custody of Children’s Aid.
Police say more arrests are expected.
