$350,000 worth of drugs uncovered in Embrun

A 52-year-old man is facing nine drug and weapon related offences after a significant bust in Embrun.

The Russell County OPP Community Street Crime Unit said the investigation started with several complaints from neighbours in the community.

Officers conducted the search of a home Thursday and discovered a kilogram of cocaine, over 55,000 speed pills, over five kilograms of hash, cannabis marijuana, drug trafficking equipment, cash, weapons and contraband cigarettes. The total value of the drugs seized has an estimated street value of over $350,000.

Rejean Lalonde of Embrun was arrested and charged with the following: 

One count of Possession of a Schedule II for the purpose of trafficking – under 3kg,

One count of Possession of a Schedule I for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine,

One count of Possession of a Schedule I for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine,

One count of Possession of a Schedule II for the purpose of trafficking – over 3kg,

One count of Trafficking in contraband tobacco,

One count of Possession of property obtained by crime in Canada under 5000$, and

Three counts of Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order.

Lalonde was held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario court of Justice in L'Orignal Ontario on March 23, 2018.
