Ottawa Public Library in need of instrument donations

By Mike Vlasveld

The Ottawa Public Library is looking for new or gently used instruments to add to its musical instrument lending library.

Over the course of this month, residents can donate their instruments to the Main branch (120 Metcalfe Street) or the Nepean Centrepointe branch (101 Centrepointe Drive).  Instruments will not be accepted at any other branch.

The library's instrument wish list includes:

·         Guitars – acoustic bass, acoustic guitars (nylon or steel), mandolins, ukuleles, banjos, electric guitars and amp
·         Strings – Violins
·         Keyboards – Lightweight portable keyboards
·         Percussion – djembe, doumbek, bongo drums, bell set
·         Instrument cases made for any of the instruments on this list

Only instruments on the list will be accepted.

The instruments received will be added to the OPL's Sun Life Financial Musical Instrument Lending Library, and will enable even more library customers the joy of borrowing an instrument to create music.

For more information on the musical instrument donation drive, please visit BiblioOttawaLibrary.ca or call InfoService at 613-580-2940.
