Info needed on vehicle believed to have picked up murder victim

By Mike Vlasveld

The Ottawa Police Service is now looking for a person of interest, and hoping to identify a vehicle which it believes picked up a homicide victim, early in the morning on May 5.

Investigators believe that Opiny P'Ochieng was picked up shortly after walking away from the corner of Cantin Street at Montreal Road around 3:00 a.m. Police said the vehicle drove the victim to the Russell Road and Southvale Crescent area.

Officers need information on the vehicle as well as any person that may have interacted with P'Ochieng.

Investigators have been tracing the victim's steps through witness accounts and security footage provided by businesses in the areas where he was believed to be that morning and previous night.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Major Crime Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5493. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or by downloading the Ottawa Police app.
