Excavator bucket falls off trailer, hits pick-up

By Mike Vlasveld

Two people riding in a pick-up truck are okay after their vehicle was hit by a one-ton excavator bucket.

MRC des Collines responded to the incident along Edelweiss Road at Elm Road in Wakefield on Thursday.

Officers say the bucket fell off a flatbed, being towed by a transport truck.

A 66-year-old Bryson man suffered a minor face injury while his passenger, a 64-year-old woman, was not injured.

The driver of the semi-trailer was tracked down and told police he did not stop after losing the bucket because did not notice the bucket fall off his trailer.

The truck driver has been fined $350.

Edelweiss Road had to be shut down for some time in order to move the bucket. The La Pêche fire department helped out.
