Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP investigating rash of break-ins

By Mike Vlasveld

OPP in Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry are looking into five separate break-ins, as well as the thefts of a boat and golf carts.

Around 9:40 a.m. last Thursday, officers responded to a report of a break-in at a residence on Concession Road 4 in South Glengarry Township. Investigators said suspects entered an outbuilding and removed various power tools sometime between August 20 and 23.

The next day, around 9:28 a.m., officers received a call about a break-in at a home on Fred Street, in North Dundas. That investigation showed that sometime overnight, suspects entered a garage and took various alcoholic beverages, a red cooler, two mountain bikes, and one red gas jerry can.

At 10:46 a.m. that same morning, OPP officers visited another house on Fred Street, where several packages of frozen meat were taken in an overnight break-in.

Then, in the same township, at 3:40 p.m., police said there was yet another break-in on Christie Lane. Again, frozen meat was the item taken.

A fifth break-in was reported just minutes later on Annable Road in North Dundas. Police said that, in that case, suspects stole alcohol and a Harley Davidson cooler sometime between August 18 and 23.

On top of all the break-ins, OPP are investigating an aluminum boat being taken from a property on Stuart Road in South Stormont. That incident was reported to police on August 23, 2018 at 4:23 p.m., and apparently happened the day before it was reported.

The boat is described as 11 feet long, and is a Thornes model with a blue stripe on it.

Police also said six golf carts were stolen from Cedar Glen Golf Course on Saddlemire Road in South Dundas last Saturday.

The stolen carts are all Yamaha models, five are green and one is black.
