Power remains out for tens of thousands, but progress is being made

By Mike Vlasveld

As of the early morning hours, Sunday, more than 100,000 capital region residents are still without electricity.

Hydro Ottawa reported 88,000 in the dark as of 4 a.m., but that's down from the 170,000 reported a day earlier.

Hydro Quebec is reporting just 44,000 without power, which is down from 165,000 at the height of the storm.

Meanwhile, Hydro One is restoring power for thousands, and still working to fix a transformer station on Merivale Road, which sustained heavy damage Friday night.
