Pot-related impaired driving charge laid in Upper Ottawa Valley

Two Laurentian Valley Township men are facing charges after officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted RIDE checks in Pembroke.
The checks happened in the evening and early morning hours of November 15 and 16.
Jordan Michael Smith, 27, was charged under Ontario's Cannabis Control Act with:
– Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
The cannabis was seized and he was issued a Provincial Offence Act notice.
Ryan Matthew Hopper, 35, was charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:
– Impaired Driving – alcohol
– Impaired Care or Control – alcohol
He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on December 18.
