Ottawa man arrested in Toronto and Ottawa ‘Project Moses’ drug investigation

By Jeff Slack

Toronto police paired up with the Ottawa police for an investigation into three drug dealers; one has been arrested and two are still wanted.

The police and drug squad revealed on Monday an arsenal of weapons seized, including six handguns, 1,016 rounds of ammunition and an assault rifle.

They also seized marijuana, fentanyl, cocaine and heroin.

Nicholas Ortega of Ottawa is in custody facing numerous drugs and firearm charges, while two other men, Daniel Siu and Vincent Wang also face charges.

Wang and Siu are still being sought.

Toronto Drug Squad Inspector Steve Watts told reporters the connection to Ottawa was the fact that Ortega had a residence in the capital.

The investigation began back in October, and search warrants were executed on February 14 and 15.
