Ottawa police officer wins Hero of the Year award

An Ottawa Police Officer has won the 'On-Duty Difference Maker Award' at the 4th annual Police Services Hero of the Year Awards Thursday night.
Constable Aaron Reichert won for his 'bravery and quick response while in pursuit of a suspect during an active triple shooting incident in the ByWard Market.'
Ontarians are encouraged to nominate local uniform and civilian police personnel that go above and beyond while on duty or within their communities for a Hero of the Year award.
This year, over 380 nominations were received, which is the highest level of engagement in four years.
The Ottawa Police Hoopstars were finalists for the 'Community Role Model.'
