The City of Ottawa has reached a milestone, as its total population has reached 1-million.
Mayor Jim Watson celebrated the occasion by unveiling a new 'Welcome to Ottawa' sign with the slogan, 'Canada in one City.'
“When you come to Ottawa, we really are the microcosm of the whole country,” said Watson.
“I always believe that we have big city amenities like the national galleries and national institutions, but we have a lot of small town charm,” the Mayor added. “You can be skiing in 20 minutes at Camp Fortune, you can go to a cranberry farm in Osgoode, you can travel to Watsonsville in Manotick and it's the best of both worlds.”
Ottawa joins three other cities in the country to reach a population over 1-million.
