Ottawa Fire Station 41, located on Eagleson Road in Kanata South, has been forced to close for renovations.
The plan was to phase in the renovations and keep the station open, but officials said that it became too disruptive, so it closed on July 11.
The firefighters usually housed in Kanata South have been moved to Station 46 on Iber Road in Stittsville until it is safe to return.
While the station in Kanata is closed, Ottawa Fire have a 'dynamic deployment model' in place.
“We have apperatus scheduled that will patrol the areas of Kanata,” explained Deputy Chief Paull Hutt. “We have a deployment model where trucks and personnel are servicing Staion 41's area, even though the station is temporarily closed.”
Deputy Chief Hutt explained that the so-called roving truck will be out conducting checks on commercial properties and will be available if the need arises.
The station is expected to reopen within the next two weeks.
Meanwhile, this isn't the first problem that Station 41 has ever encountered. In December 2017, black mould was discovered in the walls of the 30-year-old building.
