The Ottawa Humane Society (OHS) will attend an adoption drive hosted by the Pet Adoption Location (PAL). The event, which falls on International Homeless Animals Day, aims to find homes for homeless pets.
Potential adopters can visit the PetSmart Merivale location at 1585 Merivale Rd. Unit 3 in Nepean, on Aug. 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to meet some of the many animals looking for “forever families”.
OHS recently announced that the shelter was approaching capacity and was in need of community support through adopting, fostering or donating to help with overcrowding.
“We're extremely grateful that PetSmart Merivale has stepped up to help Ottawa's animals after our recent crisis-level population surge,” says Zenon Stecewicz, OHS's manager of admissions and rehoming. “The population is still high, [but] this event will help us return to a more manageable position”.
The Ottawa Humane Society has been working with the community since 1888 to address the causes of animal suffering, such as neglect, abused and homelessness.
