Chaudière bridge re-opens

Commuters in Ottawa and Gatineau once again have the use of all five bridges over the Ottawa River, but construction around the Chaudière Bridge isn't finished yet.
The bridge was initially closed due to this spring's flooding and the resulting damage, but remained closed through most of the summer for already-planned construction work.
The summer bridge construction aimed to make the crossing safer for pedestrians and cyclists.
The Chaudière crossing re-opened to drivers at 5 a.m., Tuesday, but some construction cones and lane reductions remain in place. While the work that required the bridge's closure to regular traffic has wrapped up, construction continues on the approaches to the bridge.
Intermittent lane closures during off-peak hours are expected to continue on the Chaudière through the fall.
