Ottawa Hospital gets $4.25M to develop new hospital-to-home program

The Ontario government is investing $4.25-million into The Ottawa Hospital's YourCare@Home program.

Minster of Long Term Care Merrilee Fullerton was in Ottawa Friday, along side MPP Jeremy Roberts and MPP Goldie Ghamari, to make the announcement.

YourCare@Home is a 16-week program, designed to create a way home for patients who have completed their acute care stay, but still need a complex care plan, to get that care from home.

“All in all, our PC government is investing almost $8.5-million this year in the Ottawa area to expand home and community care in our community,” said Minister Fullerton. “By increasing access to home and community care services, we are keeping patients from spending unnecessary time in our hospitals.”

Fullerton also announced $3.05-million to The Ottawa Hospital, Queensway Carleton Hospital, and Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario for inpatient surge beds.

This is all part of the $8.5-million announced by the province in September by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health.
