The City of Ottawa is investigating issues that popped up along its O-Train Confederation Line, while looking at solutions for moving transit users quicker from stations experiencing delays.
Transit Commission Chair Allan Hubley said train doors jammed at uOttawa Station Tuesday morning, which sent a ripple of delays throughout OC Transpo's system. He added that he was getting reports of several issues, which are all under investigation.
Hubley said the city's goal is to not only limit glitches along the LRT line, but figure out how to make the trip smoother for riders when problems do happen. He explained that there is room for improvement, especially when it comes to clearing station platforms during peak hours.
Hubley has also been getting more feedback on accessibility, now that larger crowds have been filling LRT stations. He plans to see more signage implememented in order to help those with accessibility needs.
The next step, beyond addressing everyday transit issues, is figuring out the transit budget in November. Hubley said he'll be asking for more money to add more services, including newer buses in order to make the whole system more reliable.
