The children and grandchildren of Jose Gabriel Sanchez might be rethinking their Christmas lists after learning that their father and grandfather just won $100,000.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation said the 66-year-old, who lives in Gloucester, won playing Encore in the November 23 Ontario 49 draw. Sanchez matched the last six of seven numbers in exact order to win his prize.
“I checked my ticket at the retailer when I discovered I had a winning ticket. Everyone was so happy and excited,” Sanchez said, while at the OLG Prize Centre to pick up his cheque.
He added, the plan for the money is to make Christmas extra special for his children and grandchildren, take a trip to Cuba and pay off some bills.
“The winning feeling is great,” Sanchez said. “This win will bring a lot of joy.”
The winning ticket was purchased at The Ottawa Hospital General Campus on Smyth Road in Ottawa.
