Ottawa sees record-breaking snowfall

This weekend’s snow dump has officially broken the one-day snowfall record that was set four decades ago.
Between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, Ottawa got 19 cm of snow, which beat the 10.2 cm the city got on the same day in 1978.
The snow is expected to continue until later Sunday evening.
Environment Canada issued the snowfall warning before the weekend and said Ottawa could anticipate between 15 to 20 cm of snow over the two-day stretch.
City crews were out salting roads Saturday once the storm started, and continued salting and plowing roads and sidewalks overnight into Sunday.
A complete cleanup of streets is expected once the snow stops or slows and crews are able to get ahead of the snowfall.
The City of Ottawa is asking that residents avoid parking on the road so that cleanup crews can continue to plow without delays.
