Vandalism that targeted Ottawa's Holocaust memorial will be investigated as a “hate-motivated incident,” police say.
Someone pelted eggs at the National Holocaust Monument, near LeBreton Flats, Wednesday.
Ottawa police confirm an investigation is under way, and that its newly-revived hate crimes section will look into the incident.
“Incidents such as this are deeply disturbing to many communities especially when they target specific groups,” Ottawa Police Chief Peter Sloly wrote on Twitter. “It is completely unacceptable and it will not be tolerated.”
Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to contact Det. Ali Toghrol at 613-236-1222, ext. 5453, or submit an anonymous trip through Crime Stoppers.
