Rideau Transit Group (RTG) has identified the source of the odour at Rideau Station.
Commuters have been raising a stink about a foul smell that resembles rotten eggs.
In a memo to city councillors, Chair of the Transit Commission Allan Hubley said RTG believes the smell is due to 'stagnant water that is getting into the tunnel near the station.'
Grouting work is being done to get rid of the water, and an environmental consulting firm is working to see what can be done to eliminate the smell.
Hubley goes on to say that there are no issues with the tunnel's structural integrity.
