Air Canada Jazz plane makes emergency landing in Ottawa

By Mike Vlasveld

All 37 passengers and three crew members on an Air Canada Express flight from Moncton are safe after an emergency landing at the Ottawa International Airport.

Officials from Jazz Aviation say flight AC8851 experienced an issue with its landing gear on its approach to the airport, Thursday afternoon.

“As per our standard operating procedures the crew requested priority landing,” said a statement from the airline.

The Dash 8-300 was able to make a safe landing.

Emergency vehicles were called to the scene as a precautionary measure.

Jazz maintenance personnel are expected to conduct a thorough inspection of the plane to determine the cause of the landing gear issue and make the necessary repairs.
