Arrest made after Ottawa police chase involving stolen shuttle bus

A 56-year-old man is facing multiple charges after Ottawa police say a shuttle bus was stolen, taken on a joy ride and then ditched on Prince of Wales Drive, north of Hunt Club Road.
Officers received a 911 call for a shuttle bus that had been stolen around 5:45 p.m., Monday.
The driver reported that they had been coaxed out of the vehicle by a suspect who made up a story, asking for help.
Officers chased the shuttle for a short time, but due to the risk to the public, the pursuit was called off. Police say the shuttle bus crashed into two other vehicles, including a marked police vehicle, as it fled the scene.
The vehicle was found abandoned in the on Prince of Wales Drive soon after and a man matching the description of the suspect was found not too far away from the abandoned vehicle.
Pierre Aubin, of no fixed address, was charged with:
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Possession of stolen property
- Dangerous operation of a conveyance
- Flight while pursued by peace officer
- Failure to stop at the scene of an accident
He appeared in court on Tuesday.
