TD Place staff to be paid by OSEG as if events were continuing

By Mike Vlasveld

Part-time and hourly staff at TD Place don't need to worry about missing paycheques for the next couple of weeks, as concerns about the spread of the coronavirus continue.

The Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group said it will pay all part-time and hourly staff for any Ottawa 67s games or events that employees were scheduled to work up until March 27.

Although the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) regular season would have ended by the end of Matrch, OHL playoffs go well into late April during a typical season. The 67s were in the midst of a season which saw them sitting comfortably on top of the OHL standings.

The Canadian Premier League has not cancelled games schedules to be played at TD Place in May yet.

TD Place has cancelled all of its events until further notice, amid concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Ottawa Senators have not said whether or not it will be taking care of the employees at the Canadian Tire Centre.
