Ottawa police make nine arrests in four weekend break-ins, downtown and Gloucester area

The Ottawa Police Service has arrested and charged nine people in connection with four commercial break and enters.

Three of the four happened in the downtown area on Saturday.

The first was reported at 1:05 a.m. near the Rideau Centre.

Officers were then called to a second break-in at 10:44 p.m. on Bank Street near Lisgar Street in Centretown.

Another break and enter happened not even an hour later on Besserer Street near King Edward Avenue in the Sandy Hill-Byward Market-Lowertown area.

In all three cases, officers arrived and were able to locate and arrests the suspects.

Ricardo Jean, 27, was charged with:

  • Break and Enter with Intent
  • Mischief to Property
  • Fail to Comply with Probation

He was released on a Release Order.

Jason Graham, 41 and Mary Ann Birmingham, 33, have been charged with:

  • Break and Enter with Intent
  • Possession of Break and Enter Tools

Others charges are pending. Both were held in custody.

Eric Blace, 34, was charged with:

  • Break and Enter with Intent
  • Mischief to Property
  • Fail to Comply with Probation (three counts)

He was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.

Finally, Ottawa police responded to a fourth break and enter at a business on Bearbrook Road, south of St. Joseph Boulevard on Monday at 3:11 a.m.

With the help of the K9 Unit, officers arrested five young boys. The investigation into that matter is ongoing.
