University of Ottawa cancels spring convocation

By Victoria Williston

The University of Ottawa class of 2020 will not be attending their convocation ceremonies in person.

A statement posted on the uOttawa website said they need to respect public health guidelines of not having any large gatherings, in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

The university is currently considering a range of options to provide an alternate convocation experience to graduating students, like hosting an in-person convocation with students, friends, and family at a later date.

University officials would like to reiterate that all students qualified to graduate in spring 2020 will still officially graduate.

The Office of the Registrar will contact students who are eligible to graduate with more information.
