Most Ottawa COVID-19 deaths from four long-term care homes

Nearly three quarters of all COVID-19 deaths in the capital have come from just four long-term care homes.
So far, the novel coronavirus has killed 161 people in Ottawa; 117 of those deaths happened among residents of the homes hardest-hit by the virus:
- Carlingview Manor: 39 deaths
- Laurier Manor: 21 deaths
- Madonna Care Community: 30 deaths
- Montfort Long-Term Care Centre: 27 deaths
The next-closest death toll in a long-term care home is seven, which is the number of deaths seen to date at both Manoir Marochel and the Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre.
Last week saw the first death of a healthcare worker from COVID-19; a personal support worker at Madonna Care Community died after contracting the virus.
The City of Ottawa announced on Friday that one resident of the Peter D. Clark Long-Term Care Centre in Nepean had died as a result of COVID-19 related complications. It was the first death of a resident in a city-run long-term care home in Ottawa.
