Highway 416 will be closed in both directions for brief periods during the mornings and afternoons this week, and residents might feel a rumble, as blasting is done in the Barrhaven area to prepare for the construction of the Amazon fulfillment centre.
Broccilini Real Estate says the highway will be closed between the Bankfield and Fallowfield exits for a maximum of 15 minutes, slightly before and during the blast.
Ontario Provincial Police will be directing traffic in the area. Northbound ramps are expected to remain open, but southbound ones will be closed.
The real estate company explains that all blast vibration levels are carefully monitored to ensure compliance with guidelines and regulations, and to alleviate the possibility of damage to nearby structures.
North bound ramp will remain open during this period, however south will be closed.
Here is how the blast schedule is laid out:
- Monday July 6: one blast at 1:30 p.m.
- Tuesday July 7: one blast at 10 a.m., second blast at 2 p.m.
- Wednesday July 8: one blast at 10 a.m., second blast at 2 p.m.
- Thursday July 9: one blast at 10 a.m., second blast at 2 p.m.
- Friday July 10: one blast at 10 a.m., second blast at 2 p.m.
