OPP arrest seven; seize over 5,000 cannabis plants in bust

Thousands of cannabis plants were seized by OPP from two locations in Addington Highlands.

According to OPP,  officers executed warrants on August 12 at the two separate residents, located about two hours west of Ottawa. 

The two homes were in close proximity to one another. 

One dwelling was on Freeburn Road and the other was on Clark Line Road.

Investigators seized over 5,000 cannabis marijuana plants in total, with a breakdown as follows:

Freeburn Road:

  • Over 4,000 plants
  • Four motor vehicles were seized
  • ATV with trailer
  • Equipment such as generators, fertilizer mixers, industrial water pumps
  • Over $13,000 in Canadian currency

Clark Line Road:

  • Over 1,000 plants
  • Over $2,000 in Canadian currency

As a result, multiple people were arrested at both locations that include:

  • Zong Feng Bai, age 42, of Toronto 
  • Chao Hao, age 52, of Toronto
  • Tian Jun, age 40, of Markham 
  • REN Jun Lin, age 30, of Markham
  • Thi Hang Nguyen, age 20, of Vietnam
  • Kim Thai Phan, age 54, of Toronto 
  • Wei Cong Cen, age 46, of Oshawa

All of the accused have been charged with:

  • Cultivating propagate or harvest more than four cannabis plants
  • Possessing proceeds obtained by crime
