Firefighters battle ‘complicated’ blaze at Gatineau steakhouse

By Dani-Elle Dubé

Thirty people were evacuated from the Sterling Restaurant in Gatineau after a fire broke out.

Gatineau firefighters were called to the scene on rue Jacques Cartier at around 6 p.m. when people passing by noticed the fire.

It took firefighters almost two hours to get the “complicated” fire under control.

Gatineau Fire Services say the fire started in the kitchen hood duct and spread to the roof.

No one was reportedly hurt.

Damage is estimated at $165,000.

On its Facebook page, the steakhouse says it will be temporarily closed until further notice because of the fire.
