Two Ottawa English Catholic schools report cases of COVID-19

By Mike Vlasveld

The Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) is dealing with its first student cases of COVID-19.

Monsignor Paul Baxter School and St. Leonard School has each reported just one case each. In each school, one class has been closed as a result of the cases, while one cohort has been closed at Monsignor Paul Baxter School.

To date, eleven schools in Ottawa have confirmed cases of the virus: seven in the French Catholic school board, two in the French public board and two in English Catholic schools.

There must be more than one case in a school for Ottawa Public Health to deem it an outbreak of COVID-19.

Parents looking for school-related COVID-19 resources can visit Ottawa Public Health's dedicated back-to-school web page.

The OCSB also has its own COVID-19 portal that parents can check in with to see where active cases of COVID-19 are in the board.
